YouTuber Who Burned a Ferrari F8 to a Crisp Now Facing Legal Heat

Extreme Vehicle Content

One of the most controversial and certainly attention-grabbing YouTube car content channels has to be WhistlinDiesel. These individuals have amassed a huge following by testing various vehicles to extremes in a variety of ways.

One of those things was when channel creator Cody Detwiler exuberantly drove a Ferrari F8 into a cornfield two years ago. As the Ferrari wasn’t meant to be driven like a rally car, more so on a dry cornfield than can ignite anytime, the F8 naturally overheated and caught on fire. The incident became so uncontrollable that even the production team’s own Minivan was caught up in the fire and eventually burned to a crisp as well.

Caught up by the Law

As shocking as the video was, it was generally tacked up to just another video for the notorious channel. However, after two years, it has come to light that not all may have been “fair and square” with Cody Detwiler’s purchase of the Ferrari F8 featured in the video.

In a post on the WhistlinDiesel Instagram page, Detwiler announced that he was arrested, posting videos and photos of the arrest. If you swipe through the post pictures, the reason for the arrest was “Tax Evasion.”

Out on Bond, but Hearing’s Happening Soon

We were also able to obtain a copy of the indictment from the State of Tennessee vs. Cody Shane Detwiler dba and WhistlinDiesel LLC. The Indictment official states the following as the reason for the arrest:

“Cody Shane Detwiler, heretofore, to-wit, on or about January 30, 2023 before the finding of this presentment in said County and State, did unlawfully and willfully attempt in any manner to evade or defeat any tax due the State of Tennessee in an amount of five hundred dollars ($500) or more, to-wit sales tax due on the purchase of a 2020 Ferrarii F8 Tributo, in violation of Tennessee Cody Annotated 67-1-1440(g), a Class E Felony, and abasing the peace and dignity of the state of Tennessee.”

Notoriety once again finds this particular content creator, and this time, it has some pretty serious repercussions. He’s out on bond right now, but his first hearing is set for November 19, to be held in Williamson County, Tennessee.
