True Support
It’s normal for automotive brands to abandon most support for a previous-generation model, while parts and servicing will always be available; anything new in terms of features and upgrades isn’t in the cards.
Surprisingly, Toyota thinks differently; the 50-series RAV4 (XA50) was recently just replaced with an all-new model, yet (at least in Japan) the automaker is still offering new parts and upgrades for the older model.

Lift Kit
Just last week, Toyota announced an upgrade kit for the XA50 RAV4. The Toyota Upgrade Factory is a department and service offered in Japan that allows owners to retrofit factory options and software updates to their cars after purchase. Through this program, they are offering a factory-built and installed 2-inch lift kit for the RAV4.
According to the announcement, this 2-inch lift kit is eligible for RAV4’s with a panoramic view monitor and that have been “deemed eligible for installation after a pre-inspection.” The Upgrade Factory is now accepting pre-inspections for this lift kit, and according to Toyota, the installation should also be done at the same dealership where the pre-inspection was done.
Toyota is keen to point out that this lift kit isn’t just for aesthetics; while it does give the RAV4 a more off-roader look, the kit itself was developed to keep the ride as close to stock as possible. The cost of installing this OEM lift kit is around $1,100, but it might be higher if the pre-inspection finds that the backup lamps need to be relocated.

Gori Gori Paint
Adding more to the rugged look is a special paint called Gori Gori Black. This particular paint is finished with a special textured rough surface. The paint will be applied to the wheel arches and front fascia up to the headlights. Interested owners can buy the Gori Gori Black paint treatment for $670.
Toyota also mentioned that they plan to release a front skid plate, front bumper, and side mirrors in Gori Gori black paint by the end of July.
